Artist's Comments

After getting a few comments I felt like I should elaborate on this piece...

I didn't even notice the power lines until someone pointed them out to me, I had originally wanted the lines in the background but that was before I decided to put it next to another picture.
I originally didn't think I'd really use either of these shots, but after uploading them I noticed that they went well together so I set them side-by-side and messed around with color and contraste for a while before settling on a high-contrast BW feel.

realy great photo, how did you make it? :)
:iconshaneduarte:
I actually used photoshop, just converted to greyscale then adjusted contrast. I know, the category of "darkroom" is misleading but the discription says to put adjustments such as this into that category. I may change that later because I don't like classifying digital adjustments under darkroom.

Beautiful Sihlouettes.

The Duality of house and tree is nice. Nicely balanced. Perhaps could have done without the power lines over the house, but you work with what you're given, right?

Since you converted this to black and white, an interesting thing to do to the photo before making it grayscale, is to apply a red photofilter with photoshop. use dark red, and very strong.

Then convert to grayscale. It's loads of fun.

unless you object, I would like to feature this in my journal here on DA.

Thank you, I'll have to try out that red filter. Reminds me of using real color filters with black and white film photography (I love BW film photography, but it gets really expensive and lots of work). And thanks, I'd love to have my work featured in your journal.

You're quite welcome. It is derived from the real color filters. Because I use a film camera, I swear by my 25A red filter and my 50 ASA film. But for the occasional digital shot I take on the fly, photoshop does a nice job of representing the real filter effect.

Excellent gradient you have. Wonderful contrasts. Well done. :]
